The NTA has recently held consultation with an expert group on specialist alcohol treatment delivery. Plans have been made for services providing treatment to clients with Alcohol problems to report new data to the NDTMS.
The changes to the Alcohol Data Set will be made primarily to up weight the importance of reporting the outcomes achieved by each service in line with the Public Health England (PHE) recovery orientated approach. This, in turn, helps to deliver against the objectives outlined in the Government’s 2012 Alcohol Strategy. Recent consultation with alcohol services highlighted changes in three key categories:
- Recommendations for the inclusion of outcome measures as part of the core dataset
- Recommendations for the inclusion of measures in the core dataset at assessment only
- Other issues raised by the consultation and expert group for future consideration
ILLY has been in close consultation with the NDTMS around the planned changes. Although no date has been set for the changes to go live, we have produced a summary of our initial understanding to help you get ahead of the game.
