WHAT WE’VE LEARNED IS WORTH SHARING
Over 30 years of working together
in the recovery sector
For more than 30 years, ILLY Systems has worked alongside
organisations supporting people affected by drug and alcohol use.
Along the way, we have learned an enormous amount.
We have listened to recovery workers, clinicians,
service managers and people with lived experience.
Their knowledge, compassion and determination have helped
shape our technology and, just as importantly,
the way we think about our work.
The people who work in recovery have taught us so much.
It’s time we shared some of what we’ve learned.
WHY WE CREATED ILLY PATHWAYS
Knowledge becomes more valuable
when it is shared.
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Mahatma Gandhi
We have always believed that making a difference
is about more than building better technology.
It is about understanding the people who use it,
the responsibilities they carry and the people
whose lives are affected by their work.
ILLY Pathways is one way we hope to give something
back — by sharing our experience with people who
may become the next generation of recovery workers.
HELPING OTHERS TAKE THEIR NEXT STEP
An introduction to careers
in recovery services
Working in recovery services requires empathy,
good judgement, respect for confidentiality
and an understanding of the responsibility
that comes with supporting another person.
Technology is only one part of that work.
But used thoughtfully, it helps services
record what matters, recognise progress
and provide continuity of care.
Through ILLY Pathways, we are developing introductory
remote learning opportunities for people interested
in working in substance misuse and recovery services.
Using practical examples and fictional client
scenarios, participants will explore:
Digital case management
How information supports the treatment journey.
Confidentiality
Responsible and respectful information handling.
Key working
Understanding records, interventions and outcomes.
Technology in recovery
How digital tools help workers support people.
Our introductory learning opportunities are being developed
for remote delivery. They are not professional qualifications
or a replacement for employer-specific CarePath training.
EXPERIENCE MATTERS
The value of lived experience
People who have experienced recovery often bring insight,
understanding and empathy that cannot be learned
from a textbook alone.
For some, their next step may involve using
that experience to support others.
We want ILLY Pathways to be a welcoming introduction
to the skills and technology used in recovery services,
particularly for people who are considering
this direction for their future.
Every person’s journey is different.
Every person has something valuable to bring.
HELP SHAPE ILLY PATHWAYS
Let’s learn together.
ILLY Pathways is a developing initiative.
We want to start small, listen carefully
and build something genuinely useful.
We welcome conversations with recovery organisations,
people with lived experience and others who share
our commitment to helping people develop their potential.
Whether you are interested in helping shape the learning,
connecting us with people who might benefit,
or simply finding out more, we would love to hear from you.
Together, we can make a difference.
